Keys and people
ingaborg and aperrott have moved and we swapped our spare keys back at the weekend :(
Plus side is possiblility of weekend games sometime at new place!

Talking of gaming, I found out that ingaborg has not met watervole, so I am noting this here so you can meet electronically (mutual interest in boardgames, tablet weaving, filking, country walks and books!)

Handspun pink/lilac natural-dyed yarn
I made some sock yarn from some of the fun natural dyed fibre from a few weeks ago.
watervole - this is for you :)

Pretty colours! Wool and silk dyeing experiments
Dug out a load of leftover dyestuffs that needed using, over the last few weeks. Results have been fun!

Spongey, minty-fresh colourscheme yarn
The very very last of the wool I bought years back at Burpham Court Farm.
This is Southdown - short fibre, really spongey, bit tricky to spin. Worked out OK!

Street party - with added Morris Dancing!
Spent a good 4 hours + today out at a village party for the Queen.
Got dragged into some Morris Dancing (thanks to watervole we had some clue what to do ;) )

Yarn - just for fun
Yarn made over the last week, mostly while watching some of the "Fast and the furious" series of films.
A decent amount, no ideas what to do with it yet; it's been fun not making it for a specific purpose!

Laceweight yarn
Another finished spinning project! Some black alpaca, silk and bit of cashmere. Going to be some sort of shawl thing. Wanted to see quite how thin I could make it (fortunately the alpaca and the silk are quite strong, so it worked..)
See pics below for the "alien landscape" effect weird close-ups!

Finished a spinning project (finally!)
Several years ago I used up some leftover dye from another project, to create some interesting colours on some silk fibre.
I've been spinning this only occasionally (drop spindle, not wheel) and after over a year and a half of work I finally completed it today :)

Dolly dresses, batch 2 - with some smocking
Thought I'd do a little more sewing - I'd not done any smocking for a bit so tried some of that (with varying degrees of success), and also tried a 2-layer skirt so the dress has its own lace-trimmed underlayer.

Dolly dresses!
I've been sewing for Makie dolls again. Having accumulated some nice fabrics for my birthday, this is what I have come up with...

"Otto and Victoria" Steampunk cosplay project (with dolls and knitting!)
I follow an amazing artist online, called Brian Kesinger (http://www.bkartonline.com/) who a number of months back issued a challenge to cosplayers, to dress up as his steampunk girl character Victoria, who has a pet octopus.
I decided it would be more interesting to scale this down (especially since I had already made a suitable octopus from modifying http://knitty.com/ISSUEdf14/PATTopus.php

The results are interesting - this took some time! Doll does not have human proportions or full movement and fabric sourcing can be tricky, but final result is fun!

Adventures in doll-size clothes design - "Nemi"
I have a number of the customisable dolls from https://mymakie.com/ - I found they were changing them (non-3d print bodies, stopping the plain white ones) so grabbed more while I could. I thought it might be fun to create a version of the cartoon character Nemi (http://www.comicvine.com/nemi/4005-23383/) as a costumed doll - here's a few pics (I do need to give her some make-up yet to make her a bit more recognisable).

Unusual use for yarn - mini wigs
I've been having a lot of fun over the last year designing then dressing little custom-made dollies from https://mymakie.com/

Recently I decided to find out if some of my handspun yarns could be used for some wig-making experimentation and found it to work quite well :)
